Bits & Bones specializes in the development of biological-archeological software with an emphasis on database and GIS related programs. I am currently employed by the Dutch National Museum of Natural History to organize the database of their extensive collection (listing over 13 million natural history objects) and to develop an application that will enable the users (without the need for extensive GIS knowledge) to generate custom maps to reflect a combination of aspects, such as species, time, place, a...

The DK v.8 beta is fabulous! The new controls, examples, and documentation are great!
And it appears that the new SQL vector layer support will nullify the need for ArcSDE or Oracle Spatial! Wow! I've programmed with ArcObjects and the DK has most of the power, more speed, less overhead, and is easier to use at a fraction of the price.

We selected the TatukGIS DK for the creation of our retail street/road map GPS tracking and navigation product because of its capabilities in handling shortest path analysis and the TatukGIS PixelStore image system. We needed to present raster map images of up to half a gigabyte, so this was critical to our project.

My business is technical in nature relating primarily to civil engineering matters, such as the construction of buildings, planning of roads, hydraulic infrastructures, etc. For 10 years we have been working here in Italy with GIS technology directed to urban management within the technical offices of the town halls.

The addition of the DK to our development arsenal made a great difference in solving many problems that would have been cumbersome to implement with our existing GIS applications, and that would have required custom written software. Pursuant to our work in the area of metapopulation biology, we were in need of a Delphi based GIS component that is compatible with our ArcView GIS data.

Our company has developed a real-time electricity outage management application, which is very important to electrical power companies to reduce the fault time. We decided to add GIS features to our application in order to facilitate the user interface and otherwise improve the application.

In May 2002 gs-soft selected the TatukGIS DK toolkit as a strategic component for several Swiss Army projects. We cannot provide a lot of details due to matters of security, but one use of the DK is as a GIS visual front end for a large Data Warehouse. This allows us to visualize GIS related Analysis-Cubes in 2 directions: Cube to GIS and GIS back to Cube for drilldown operations.

INTEC Services, a control systems integration service provider, has used the TatukGIS DK-ActiveX toolkit since late 2002 to provide navigation assistance for a precision digging application. The TatukGIS functions are used to calculate the actual distance and direction at any time of the digging machinery from a dig-line.

We selected the DK for a GIS software application being developed under direct contract with the Land Forces (Army) element of the Canadian Forces (CF). We had previously developed a prototype application for placing safety templates on digital maps using ArcView 3.2a, but found the cost of user licenses to be impractical considering the demand for deployment across the army.

I've been able to build a simple GIS application in just two weeks with the DK, working only part-time on the project - and I am completely new to GIS. What an amazing tool!

We have been using the DK during the last year in several applications, which include a delivery system for supermarkets, a pick-up and delivery routing system for transport companies in general, a call mapping system for companies with 0800/0810 telephone lines that allows them to geographically analyze the client locations and layouts, and we are also working on a map developing and handling software, among other projects.

Our company has been developing Delphi GIS applications, primarily location referenced road databases for Swiss authorities, for more than seven years. We developed with ESRI MapObjects for a long time before beginning a search in the spring of 2001 for an alternative product to better meet our needs.

After working so much with your DK, I have to say again that I think it is by far the most flexible and robust GIS component that I have used. Great work!

From what I have seen so far I am truly impressed with your toolkit. The rendering performance is so good, it has proven itself order of magnitudes better than MapX and MapObjects in our applications. Additionally, the API is so rich that there really seems to be nothing that is impossible to do!

So, far I think I have done well with DK. I am doing things with it that CartoVCL never dreamed of. I really like the DK OnPaint features. A special note on data handling, I have tied the shapefiles records into data tables made with DBISAM, an embedded database engine.

Just wanted to send you an e-mail in support of your initiative. GIS is too complicated. Anything that helps simplify the technology will improve it's acceptance. NBGIS provides a vision statement for a more elegant, simple solution
