KB10184 - Your web site states that the DK runs significantly faster than other GIS developer components. On what do you base this claim?
Many parties evaluating the DK against the leading GIS development products have reported to TatukGIS that they found the DK performance to be remarkably fast, running various vector file formats much faster than the market leading GIS development products.
One example in which the performance of the DK seems to be particularly good is with the generation of in-memory vector coverages. One DK developer reported testing the DK-ActiveX beta against a market leading GIS development product in the generation of an in-memory vector coverage from a randomly generated 3,000 point vector file with ten attribute fields. The DK was tested with SHP, MIF, and DXF format data, and performed the task with each of these formats in approximately 3 seconds. The leading product, when tested on the same computer with the SHP format, required 158 seconds to perform the same operations, for a speed differential of 53 times! (TatukGIS has performed similar tests with the DK-VCL version and vector files with a few million points, and found the performance to be entirely satisfactory even with file sizes of this magnitude.)
A second party testing the DK-ActiveX beta reported being able to create layers with 50,000 points and 50,000 lines within about 3 seconds when working with TAB files. A third party reported that he found that the DK-VCL 6.0 version read his 7.5 MB SHP file, containing 11,000 polygons, in less than one second.
Furthermore, we expect the DK-ActiveX 7 final release to run approximately 30% faster than the DK-ActiveX 6.5 beta that these parties were evaluating!!!
