KB10437 - How can I support the opening of MrSID format images in my DK application?
Since April 2004, the DK retail version directly reads (decodes) MrSID format images. This means that DK licensed developers can add the opening/reading of MrSID format images to their DK-based applications without any technical or legal requirement to purchase a separate MrSID decode SDK license from LizardTech. (The TatukGIS Internet Server and other TatukGIS products also read MrSID images.)
Prior to April, 2004, the MrSID decode SDK license did not allow TatukGIS to incorporate MrSID image format reading support into developer “toolkit” product (such as the DK). At that time TatukGIS offered only a MrSID wrapper to indirectly support the MrSID DSDK, and any DK developer wishing to add MrSID reading functionality to a DK-based application had to purchase/license the MrSID DSDK directly from Lizard Tech or from a MrSID reseller. This situation changed in April 2004 when Lizard Tech amended the license agreement with TatukGIS to allow TatukGIS to directly support the decoding of MrSID images within the DK toolkit.
