KB10672 - Can I use the TatukGIS Editor to convert an AutoCAD DWG polyline file, representing ownership parcels, into a topologically correct polygon layer? Each parcel in the DWG file is formed by three or more parcel lines. The lines are not broken at intersections.
Yes. The correction of topology problems in land parcel map data is one of the most common situations in which the Editor topology builder/corrector can prove useful. This functionality can be used to transform entire map layers from lines into polygons in a single procedure.
Because the Editor does not support the DWG file format, you will need to use AutoCAD to export the data to the DXF format, which the Editor will open. The topology builder operations will generate the topologically corrected output, i.e., a polygon layer, to the SHP format, which can be used with TatukGIS or other GIS software products.
If you need to use the resulting polygon layer in AutoCAD, use the Editor to convert the SHP file into a DXF file for import into AutoCAD.
