KB10818 - How to edit the Editor user interface menu names, messages, and strings in one of the supported languages? How to add a new language option?
The steps to edit the user interface translations for an already supported language are as follows:
1. Use the menu item Tools\Languages to select a language from the list of supported languages. This will convert the menus, messages, and strings of the program user interface to the selected language.
2. Click on the menu Tools\Languages\Edit language to open the Language Editor dialog box.
3. Edit the translations as required.
4. Click on the “Save” button on the Language Editor dialog to save your work. The Editor will automatically reload translations to the Editor interface.
5. If you believe that the editing changes represent a meaningful improvement, please send the updated translations to TatukGIS by clicking on the “Send via email” button on the Language Editor dialog box. Then TatukGIS can add the revised translations to future versions of the Editor product.
The steps to provide translations to add a new language option for the Editor user interface are as follows:
1. Create a new SIL translations file from the original english.SIL file: copy the english.SIL file to a new file with a new file name: newlangname.SIL. This new file must exist in the Languages folder, which is located in the Editor version 2 installation folder.
2. Edit the lang.config.ini file to add a section for the new language.
3. Enter the translations in the new language for each menu, string, and message.
4. Click on the “Save” button on the Language Editor dialog to save your work. The Editor will automatically reload the new language translations to the Editor interface.
5. Send the updated translations to TatukGIS by clicking on the “Send via email” button on the Language Editor dialog box. Then TatukGIS will add the new language option to future versions of the Editor product.
