TatukGIS DK Spatial Database Extensions
The DK Spatial Database Extensions enable the DK developer to develop GIS applications which work directly with sever based map layers in the Oracle Spatial/Locator and/or ESRI® ArcSDE⢠SQL spatial database structures. The support for these spatial database is formats direct, without need for any 3rd party software or middleware. The Spatial Database Extensions are for the DK-VCL, DK.NET, and DK-ActiveX product editions. Any DK-based application can now become an Oracle Spatial or ArcSDE client.
The support for Oracle Spatial/Locator includes:
- Reading/writing/editing Oracle Spatial vector map layers (SDO_GEOMETRY)
- Creation of new Oracle Spatial tables and importing data into the tables
- Use of Locator spatial operators for server-side spatial queries (based on the DE9IM model)
- Utilization of Oracle Spatial indexes
- FAQ item Q10779 explains how to connect a TatukGIS product to the Oracle Spatial/Locator database. Refer to the Oracle Technology Network web page for information about Oracle Spatial/Locator.
The ArcSDE SQL support includes:
- Reading ArcSDE Geodatabase SQL vector map layers, editing of attribute values and structure, and geometry object deletion. (Geometry modification not supported.)
- Direct ArcSDE SQL layer direct access, bypassing ArcSDE services and independent of any ESRI middleware.
- Utilization of ArcSDE spatial indexes for fast spatial queries.
- Supported databases: MSSQL Server, Oracle, and other SQL databases compatible with the ArcSDE standard
- FAQ item Q10783 explains how to connect a TatukGIS product to an ArcSDE SQL layer.
The DK Spatial Database Extensions are licensed separately from the DK product, as a DK add-on product. As with the DK, the licensing of the DK Spatial Database Extensions is royalty-free when deployed as a compiled desktop application, such as one connecting to Oracle Spatial or ArcSDE in a client-server configuration.
The DK Spatial Database support can be trial tested for a 14-day period using a DK retail or trial version, or using the retail or trial version of the TatukGIS Editor product. (The spatial databases are supported as a standard feature in the TatukGIS Editor and Internet Server products.)
In the future TatukGIS will provide support for additional spatial databases, e.g., MS SQL 8/Spatial and PostGIS, which will be added to this product in a free upgrade.
