"I have had TatukGIS Editor licenses for two computers around 3 years now and you continue to develop the Editor with extremely useful functions and offer these for free.
Few other vendors match you in the value you keep adding to TatukGIS Editor.

"We have been using the TatukGIS Developer Kernel (ActiveX edition) for our severe weather and storm tracking solution for over 4 years now and we have evaluated many other GIS engines since. This latest DK version is the most efficient, most capable GIS engine we have ever seen. It blows away everything else on the market."

"I recently undertook the quest for a .NET GIS component, and ultimately
chose the TatukGIS .Net DK for several reasons. First, the DK.NET component
is an amazing value at $1,500 for a developer's license. I would never
purchase a product under a runtime license, and was expecting to pay much
more for a developer's license. Second, the support for the CADRG & CIB
data formats makes the DK very attractive for the development of GIS-aware
simulations for the Department of Defense. This is because the map, chart
and imagery data distributed by NGA (National Geospatial-Intelligence
Agency, formerly NIMA) is in the RPF format (which encompasses CADRG and
CIB). Because CADRG is a very complex format, building support for it on my
own would easily have cost me tens of thousands in labor. Finally, one of
the most important reasons that I decided to go with the TatukGIS DK.NET is
the exceptional responsiveness to customer e-mails and support requests,
both during the evaluation period and after I became a customer. So while a
part of me would prefer that my competitors don't learn about TatukGIS, I
think the Company has a bright future. If TatukGIS was publicly traded, I'd
be buying stock!"

"I do real estate acquisitions in major university markets across the country. For years I have used interactive city and county websites to determine land ownership and infrastructure to locate sites for the development of student housing projects. Unfortunately, these web sites are usually slow, frequently unresponsive, and sometimes completely unavailable. So I started acquiring the data from the local governments for viewing and analyzing myself using various desktop GIS programs. I was just about to the point of giving up on finding a GIS program that an average non programmer could use. I had tried several of the "big name" programs that sell for thousands of dollars and, each time, had to give up my efforts to learn the program after many hours. These programs were just too "unintuitive". Each time I acquired aerial photos, the files were in a format that the program I was trying to use wouldn't read.
After I downloaded the trial TatukGIS Editor, I was able to make substantial progress within a couple of hours. The TatukGIS Editor opened every file that I had downloaded without problems. It is very intuitive and easy for a nonprogrammer to use. I was so pleased with the trial version that I purchased the commercial product version within a couple of days - well before the trial period was over. I have continued to have success manipulating GIS files with the TatukGIS Editor and each new version that TatukGIS releases has more enhancements that continue to make my task easier. Thank you TatukGIS. Please keep it up."

"We chose the TatukGIS DK-ActiveX product earlier this year after determining that no other product even came CLOSE to the DK in terms of features and price! I tried a few other products (there are not many software development components out there which support DGN files!) and none could match the ease of use and features of your DK.
The DK product has allowed me to develop my application extremely quickly and painlessly! Although we will continue to use the DK to implement additional features to our GIS application, our users here in the county government are already extremely pleased with what we have provided them in such a cost-effective manor."

"A colleague from the University of Kassel here in Germany recently sent me a quite big and irregularly shaped SHP file coverage containing many small holes and irregular formations. He had tried to buffer the shapes using the complete product line of a leading GIS software company, but each attempt failed due to the program running out of memory or other mistakes relating to building the buffers. Even sending the file to this other GIS software company's developer team for troubleshooting was not successful. The other company only sent him a quite complicated workaround which would mean a lot of time expensive manual work. There was no solution or suggestion of further automatic procedures to generate the desired buffer.
I offered to help my colleague by attempting to perform the same operation using the TatukGIS Developer Kernel. I wrote about twenty lines with the DK to create a buffer application and, after calculating more than 12 hours (despite running the operation in memory, which might give you an impression of the complexity of the coverage) the result delivered by the DK was simply perfect.
You have done a great work with the DK."

"At DigSyLand we selected the TatukGIS DK for the development of a number of applications, such as a program for an automatic relief analysis, an erosion modeling application, and we are currently developing an agricultural information system, which will allow farmers to plan and simulate processes and which also includes bookkeeping functions.
Having worked with various GIS-applications over the past 15 years, we were highly satisfied with the TatukGIS DK because it offers a wide span of functions and is easy to use
We are also very pleased with the support we have had from the TatukGIS team who responded to our emails and answered our questions in no time.
We would highly recommend the TatukGIS DK to anyone."

"We have adopted TatukGIS as the platform for all our application development work at HydroQual and ComCarto. The stability and speed of the executables is always up to the heavy demands we place on it. The ease of distributing applications with as single *.exe file (as opposed to requiring a lengthy and error-prone installation process) is a big plus with our customers and business partners. The combination of TatukGIS with IntraWeb makes a fabulous platform for developing Web-GIS applications because it doesn't require any additional software or programming expertise. Being able to link the applications, on or off the Web, to any database via ADO technology has tremendously increased our productivity. We are now able to develop applications that integrate maps, database queries, and statistical plots of any type in remarkably short time-frames."

"HydroQual develops proprietary models for extremely intensive simulation of rivers,
lakes, and estuaries. We are continually searching for new and more efficient ways
to provide a graphic interface for users to manipulate and diagnose model input and
results, which are generated by FORTRAN executables. In the past, we have linked ArcInfo
and ArcView to some elements of the modeling process, but the cost and complexity
of those applications limited the portability of the tools. The TatukGIS DK provides
a clean, lightweight, affordable, and very FAST toolbox from which we can build our
closely tailored interfaces."

"I have to admit I have probably spent a total of only 100 hours with your product (DK) since I purchased it. My product suite is huge, and much focused on the database. That's were I am spending most of my time right now - on PLSQL and Java Stored Methods and Delphi front ends to expose the Oracle database and application administration functionality. But when I do work with DK I am able to get the functionality I need very quickly. So quickly, in fact, that I actually have 30 or 40 times the functionality I expected to have because you provide an enormous amount of out of the box functionality in areas I did not expect to see. And this, ironically enough, has lead me to ignore the Tatuk DK more than I would like to because what I though I would be doing is already done"

"We had to find the right tool to allow us to successfully create a simple but sophisticated GIS driven application which could be easily deployed. Royalty-free distribution was essential, but the final choice of tool was decided by price and by the clarity of the TatukGIS object model. Both were essential factors in allowing Framework Archaeology to minimise risk at the outset of designing the Framework Free Viewer. It was clear that to succeed we needed to cover a lot of ground very quickly in the development, and from a programmer's point of view, the ease with which a new tool could be understood was critical. Support from TatukGIS support staff was always prompt and effective. The finished product uses a 3.1MB executable to handle more than 300MB of data."

Before creating our FarmKeeper (www.farmkeeper.com) farm management application, we evaluated a number of different GIS toolkits. The TatukGIS DK-VCL appealed to us because of its flexibility, execution speed and royalty-free distribution. The ability to compile the GIS technology directly into the application was also appealing, for ease of deployment.
Although the TatukGIS DK has integrated editing facilities, we chose to implement our own very simple editor interface. Our goal was to make the creation of a farm map as simple as possible for our users - for example, we felt that each fence should be drawn only once, and our application should be responsible for detecting when fences meet and determining what area they encompass. (Other farm mapping products force each fence to be drawn twice, as part of two different polygons to define the two different paddocks on either side of the fence).
We developed custom algorithms to handle such complex situations as fences inside fences, breaking and rejoining fences, and moving fences once drawn. Although the algorithms are complex, they allow the program to appear incredibly simple to the user - they simply have to draw fences on the screen, and the areas inside the fences are recognised automatically.
The flexibility of the TatukGIS DK allowed us to implement this editing interface while still utilising the power and speed of the DK's display engine. We also created our own SQL database storage layer to support our unique editing interface, and had no problems integrating this custom storage with the main DK engine.
We received outstanding support from the TatukGIS team throughout our development process. The support staff was always accurate, informative, approachable and honest, and emails were answered promptly and accurately.

Bits & Bones specializes in the development of biological-archeological software with an emphasis on database and GIS related programs. I am currently employed by the Dutch National Museum of Natural History to organize the database of their extensive collection (listing over 13 million natural history objects) and to develop an application that will enable the users (without the need for extensive GIS knowledge) to generate custom maps to reflect a combination of aspects, such as species, time, place, accuracy of information, bio-geographical and political regions, etc., to be used in biodiversity research projects. The DK is already in use at the Museum in the form of a small mapping application for the archeological collection itself. It documents the locations and shows where to find objects or sub-collections within the extensive Museum storage facilities.
I have also used the DK core in an application for the archeological unit of the City of Groningen. This application enables users to analyze digital archaeological excavation maps and related sets of data without the need for extensive database and or GIS skills.
The key points in my selection of the DK product for my work were i) the available maps are in a variety of formats (shp, map/tab, dxf) and ii) my clients require a small and "mobile" application. I must say I am more than content about the performance and versatility of the DK and I am eagerly awaiting every new DK release or update.

The DK v.8 beta is fabulous! The new controls, examples, and documentation are great!
And it appears that the new SQL vector layer support will nullify the need for ArcSDE
or Oracle Spatial! Wow! I've programmed with ArcObjects and the DK has most of the power, more speed, less overhead, and is easier to use at a fraction of the price.
Feel free to quadruple the price once the DK Guide .pdf is completed.

"We selected the TatukGIS DK for the creation of our retail street/road map GPS tracking
and navigation product because of its capabilities in handling shortest path analysis
and the TatukGIS PixelStore image system. We needed to present raster map images of
up to half a gigabyte, so this was critical to our project. An added bonus to all
the brilliant features and functionality which comes with the DK, was the prompt and
willing support we got from TatukGIS staff. Effectively we had another friendly, supportive,
and expert team on deck with the project, which is exactly what we needed. I would
strongly commend TatukGIS to any developers working on GIS based applications.
Having all of the key vector calculations and algorithms based on the TatukGIS DK
gives us the speed we needed for GPS tracking and shortest pathing. The DK is centred
on doing work in-memory in a way which gives it great speed. We use a number of different
GIS packages and interface with most of the majors in this field. Over the years we
have been Developer Partners with MapInfo, and used the Blue Marble OCX. The DK gives
us a huge lead in portability of data and functionality which is not possible with
any other package around in the market place today."

My business is technical in nature relating primarily to civil engineering matters,
such as the construction of buildings, planning of roads, hydraulic infrastructures,
etc. For 10 years we have been working here in Italy with GIS technology directed
to urban management within the technical offices of the town halls.
For many years we tried to develop such a solution using VB-5 with Autocad14-2000,
but the strategy forced the town halls to purchase AutoCAD licenses. The first OCX
that we purchased was the Italian made product, DBcad, but this product did not satisfy
us.
After various attempts of searching for other possibilities on the web, we came to
know of TatukGIS. We made some tests with the DK-ActiveX software download from your
site, and it immediately appeared to be very efficient. The next day we purchased
a license.
The first city to appreciate the technology offered in the DK toolkit is Castellana
Grotte. Castellana Grotte is a city in the Puglia region to the south of Bari that
is famous for the extensive cave formations. The territory of Castellana Grotte encompasses
approximately 30,000 hectors (72,000 acres). The solution that we created for Castellana
Grotte from the DK relates to the management and integration of the functions and
needs of the town technical (cadastral) office and the property tax office. I am sending
you a Power Point presentation that better explains the solution implemented at Castellana
Grotte.

The addition of the DK to our development arsenal made a great difference in solving
many problems that would have been cumbersome to implement with our existing GIS applications,
and that would have required custom written software. Pursuant to our work in the
area of metapopulation biology, we were in need of a Delphi based GIS component that
is compatible with our ArcView GIS data.
When we began our search for a Delphi based GIS component, there was no obvious winner
at first glance. But, after putting the DK and other products through a thorough testing
process, it became quite clear that DK is exactly what we needed. Another important
consideration for us is the support provided by DK team. It is literally 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week. Being able to get answers in real time, and not just from just
a person responsible for the support, but directly from the core DK development team,
works like magic.

"Our company has developed a real-time electricity outage management application,
which is very important to electrical power companies to reduce the fault time. We
decided to add GIS features to our application in order to facilitate the user interface
and otherwise improve the application. The greatest consideration in the selection
of the TatukGIS DK-VCL over other available GIS software products was the timely responses
provided by the TatukGIS technical support. Our questions were always answered quickly.
For us, the mains advantages of the TatukGIS DK are:
- No extra DLL's to install in the final application.
- Delphi language compatibility, which reduces the development time and avoids irritations
of using ActiveX.
- Supports a large number of GIS formats.
- The "real" technical support offered by TatukGIS. No automatic replays like others
companies do.
Finally, we highly recommend TatukGIS due to the ease of use and technical support.
Before you buy another GIS toolkit, try TatukGIS. It will amaze you. And remember

"In May 2002 gs-soft selected the TatukGIS DK toolkit as a strategic component for
several Swiss Army projects. We cannot provide a lot of details due to matters of
security, but one use of the DK is as a GIS visual front end for a large Data Warehouse.
This allows us to visualize GIS related Analysis-Cubes in 2 directions: Cube to GIS
and GIS back to Cube for drilldown operations.
The DK was chosen for these projects based on its 100% component based integration
into Delphi and its flexibility. This allows us to work with completely new UI designs.
As a result, we have received extremely positive user feedback!"

"INTEC Services, a control systems integration service provider, has used the TatukGIS
DK-ActiveX toolkit since late 2002 to provide navigation assistance for a precision
digging application. The TatukGIS functions are used to calculate the actual distance
and direction at any time of the digging machinery from a dig-line. The dig-line is
defined by coordinates entered by the user and the machine position is provided with
real-time coordinates generated by a GPS unit mounted on the digger. The distance
from the dig-line is displayed in an operator interface, allowing the machinery operator
to keep the digging machinery oriented with the dig-line.
We selected the TatukGIS ActiveX DK over other available GIS software products due
to the timely responses by TatukGIS immediately following the initial contact. The
DK sample version was made available on request and our questions were answered quickly
and clearly, as opposed to the somewhat vague responses we received from other GIS
vendors. Another reason we chose TatukGIS was that the sample code was available in
Visual Basic .NET format, while a competing vendor could only offer samples in Visual
Basic version 6. We had jumped from VB 5 to VB .NET expecting that software vendors
would be utilizing cutting edge technology like we were, and TatukGIS was ready."

"We selected the DK for a GIS software application being developed under direct contract with the Land Forces (Army) element of the Canadian Forces (CF). We had previously developed a prototype application for placing safety templates on digital maps using ArcView 3.2a, but found the cost of user licenses to be impractical considering the demand for deployment across the army. The Land Forces considered using the MapObjects (ActiveX) component with Delphi, but found MapObjects to lack certain functionality and involve license restrictions that could hinder distribution. The final decision to opt for the TatukGIS DK was based on favorable results from an initial DK-based prototype and on the prompt and helpful insight into difficult features provided by the TatukGIS support center. Because there are no DK license restrictions in desktop deployment situations, the cost of distribution across the army will be negligible."

We have been using the DK during the last year in several applications, which include
a delivery system for supermarkets, a pick-up and delivery routing system for transport
companies in general, a call mapping system for companies with 0800/0810 telephone
lines that allows them to geographically analyze the client locations and layouts,
and we are also working on a map developing and handling software, among other projects.
In all of these applications the utilization of maps and the tools for geographic
data manipulation are of great importance for us and we have found in the DK to be
a very complete component.
I should note that the DK has really improved since we first purchased the 5.0 version
of the Component back in May, 2001. We appreciate the product upgrades, which have
been provided to us at no additional cost during first 12 months following our purchase.
The DK works really well in our applications and has been of great value for us. The
Component is fast, with very good printing support, and the files are lighter than
files from other components we have used. The DK also supports very helpful functions
for the geographic analysis of data (isInside functions, ShortestPath Object, etc).
And finally I must stress that one of the most important issues for us has been the
consistent and fast support provided by TatukGIS whenever we needed it.

Our company has been developing Delphi GIS applications, primarily location referenced
road databases for Swiss authorities, for more than seven years. We developed with
ESRI MapObjects for a long time before beginning a search in the spring of 2001 for
an alternative product to better meet our needs.
Shortly thereafter we discovered the TatukGIS DK and began a period of extensive testing.
Even before we paid the first dollar, we learned that the TatukGIS support was great.
In the summer of 2001 we made the strategic decision to move our applications to TatukGIS
DK primarily because TatukGIS provides the full product source code. The availability
of the source code greatly enhances our productivity relative to working in an ActiveX
environment (as is the case with MapObjects). Our experience with the ActiveX was
that development often involved trial and error procedures, building "workarounds"
into our code to bi-bass the ActiveX shortcomings, etc., when the ActiveX did not
behave as expected. Switching to the DK eliminated these types of irritations.
Something you do not get with the DK is a huge amount of printed documentation. But
you do not need it. Every feature has a short description in the helpfiles, there
are many examples of how to do the different tasks, and last but not least, the direct
support from the TatukGIS people is excellent. I sent many questions during the last
eight months and I cannot remember ever waiting more than a couple of hours for an
answer.
For us, the main advantages of the DK, compared to other GIS development products
are:
- the DK is written in native Pascal code, no extra DLL's to install in deployments
- a lot of possibilities to render shapes (symbols, patterns, styles, labeling features)
- SQL layers to store shared data in a database
- and all this for a very reasonable price.
Finally I can say, we do not regret switching from MapObjects to the TatukGIS DK.
Through today, every apparent problem or limitation that we have encountered with
the DK has been resolved.

"From what I have seen so far I am truly impressed with your toolkit. The rendering
performance is so good, it has proven itself order of magnitudes better than MapX
and MapObjects in our applications. Additionally, the API is so rich that there really
seems to be nothing that is impossible to do!
During our search for an enterprise caliber mapping toolkit we went through many of
the "industry leading" toolkits such as MapX, MapObjects and GeoObjects. Each one
of them seemed like they might be sufficient for our purposes at first, but as we
dove in to the details we found multiple serious shortcomings in each one. We needed
a toolkit that can handle thousands of features per layer with tens, potentially hundreds
of layers. Furthermore, we needed a toolkit that can handle real-time feature movements
without flickering and without waiting for tens of seconds... TatukGis is truly fantastic
in this area.
The fact that you get source code with Tatuk provides you unparalleled flexibility
and capability in handling events such as mouse movements, annotations and many more.
Furthermore, having source code is a fantastic investment and great for risk management.
During our evaluation period we were so impressed with Tatuk's support that after
a week of prototyping we scrapped our MapInfo investment and decided to go with Tatuk.
One would think that they might lack support because they are a small company. On
the contrary, the quality of their support, their turn around time (often within hours)
and the extent to which they are willing to send source code samples is the best I
have ever seen. I am also truly amazed at how each advanced feature request turns
out to be in the next minor version. All of this at the cost of a negligible amount
of bugs, too.
From a cost benefit perspective you can not go wrong with Tatuk. If you are concerned
with them being a small company, do not rule them out without trying them; you will
be pleasantly surprised. We HIGHLY recommend them!"

"So, far I think I have done well with DK. I am doing things with it that CartoVCL
never dreamed of. I really like the DK OnPaint features. A special note on data handling,
I have tied the shapefiles records into data tables made with DBISAM, an embedded
database engine. What is really nice is to query the data table via the OnPaint and
have only the result appear as symbols using the OnPaint feature. There is no install,
as long as the PM_Data folder is in the same folder as the Point_Maker.exe, the app
runs. If you run Point_Maker look at the label flash label feature is much like DK's
label draw. I use a Raize Button that has TColor, which I make yellow. Would you believe
it took me two days using Map Object to build a class for this? With Raize button
and DK it took me 5 minutes! I plan to send you the code - all five lines. I look
forward to continuing my learning process with DK."
