TatukGIS Developer Kernel on Stage at GIS Day 2025

On 19 November 2025, TatukGIS participated in GIS Day at the Eco-Innovation Centre of Gdańsk University of Technology. In his lecture, Michał Kowalczuk - one of TatukGIS’s most talented engineers - presented the TatukGIS Developer Kernel as a high-performance GIS engine for building custom applications on .NET, Delphi, Java, Python, and other platforms.

He outlined the values behind the product: multi-platform design, a data-agnostic approach, and direct, developer-focused support. On the technical side, the talk covered a single API for many languages and systems, native support for common GIS formats and web services, more than 5,000 coordinate systems, spatial and topological analysis, advanced symbology and labelling, 3D visualisation, and ready-to-use user interface components.

A major part of the presentation was devoted to how students and researchers can start using TatukGIS today. Michał highlighted that the TatukGIS Developer Kernel is available free of charge for Python, and that an EDU version for Java is offered, making it possible for anyone in the academic community to experiment with the technology, prototype ideas, and build full-featured GIS applications without any upfront licensing cost.

To show real impact, Michał walked through application examples built on the Developer Kernel: Idan Solar Panels Planner (IDAN), Environmental Site Model Studio (EJLSKOV A/S), SimNet (Fluid Systems), MissionPlanner (TopoFlight), and more.

The session concluded with a brief look at how TatukGIS is experimenting with AI inside its software stack, pointing to future possibilities in automated analysis and smarter workflows.

Overall, GIS Day 2025 in Gdańsk was an opportunity to connect with students, researchers, and professionals interested in practical, developer-centric GIS. We thank the organisers and participants and look forward to further collaboration with Gdańsk University of Technology and the wider GIS community.
