DK Used with PowerBuilder for Real Property Valuation and Taxation System in the Philippines

August 11, 2009

TatukGIS customer Dr. Dirk Lorenzen, of the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel, Germany has authored a white paper describing the use of the TatukGIS Developer Kernel (DK-ActiveX edition) with the Sybase Corporation's PowerBuilder 10.5 development environment to implement GIS mapping capability to a cadastral property tax mapping solution for the government of the Philippines. Integration of the digital maps with the already existing property database was performed using OLE connections based on each parcel's unique identification number. The result is a very useful and user friendly map interface to the real property taxation database system. The white paper contains a number of source code samples demonstrating the how GIS functionality from the DK was implemented using PowerBuilder.

This paper is available as a PDF file from the link: GIS_Report.pdf

The use of the DK with PowerBuilder was to integrate GIS mapping functionality to the iTax real property valuation and taxation management system under a project performed for the Philippines government by GFA Consulting Group with financial and technical support from the German government development agency Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH. This project is described in detail in an article published in the line-line publication MethodFinder (www.methodfinder.net) at the link:
