The full TatukGIS license agreement is available to download as PDF.
A Developer Kernel (DK) license grants one person (typically a developer) a perpetual right to use a version of the product. A license is required for each user regardless of the extent or duration of use, which can include development, debugging, or any other activity requiring access to the DK libraries or source code. Each licensed user must be registered to the DK license in the TatukGIS licensed user database. It is the customer responsibility to ensure each person accessing or using the DK is accurately registered to a purchased license the TatukGIS system.
The DK may be used on a build machine (a computer dedicated to performing software compilations - also sometimes referred to as continuous integration or unattended build) provided that access to the DK libraries or source code on the build machine is restricted to DK licensed users. Never may multiple persons share access to the DK libraries/source code, even on the same computer, under a single license.
DK licensing is free of deployment royalties or run-time fees, with limited exceptions:
- The DK may not be used to create a development product, such as a SDK (component) that can be used by other developers, or any GIS application that exposes the TatukGIS API, such as via scripting or web access.
- The DK may not be used to develop an application that competes against the TatukGIS Editor product. This means the DK cannot be used to develop a general purpose GIS editing application with features similar to the TatukGIS Editor which is targeted to the general GIS user market, or which is directly detrimental to license sales of the TatukGIS Editor. (This restriction is not applicable to the vast majority of GIS developers who wish to develop specialized applications designed for a particular company, industry, purpose, or type of use, or to fulfill a requirement the TatukGIS Editor is not designed to fulfill.)
DK license maintenance is on an annual subscription basis. Each license purchase includes maintenance for 12 months. Renewal of maintenance for each subsequent 12-month period is optional and costs 40% of the current price of a new license (if performed prior to the scheduled maintenance renewal/expiration date). Maintenance includes download access and user rights to the most recent (upgrade or update) product release version, access to TatukGIS e-mail technical support, and write access to the TatukGIS Question & Answer resource.
