The MSJET/Access database engine is size limited to 2 gigabytes of data. Microsoft Access may not provide a specific message stating that the 2 GB limit is breached, which can be confusing. As a rule, if the process of generating a PixelStore database i) stops without a clear reason why and ii) the amount of data already written exceeds 1 GB, the MSJET size limitation is likely the problem.
For larger image layers, PixelStore can be configured to just about any SQL database engine, such as SQLite (recommended over MSJET/Access for local storage), MSSQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, Interbase, Firebird, etc. TatukGIS compatible database engines are presented in KB10639. Guidance on configuring a PixelStore layer to a supported database engine is provided in KB10649.
