Shapes shifting right when adding new shapes to layer

Question
BerF asked on January 21, 2022, keyword: Developer Kernel
When copying the geometry of a shape and adding it to another layer the shapes overlap nicely if no label is being shown for the layer that the shapes are being copied to. When labeling is on, the new shape is placed at the correct position but the rest of the layer shifts to the right.

I am only seeing this behavior when copying shapes from a GISLayerSHP. When copying from a TGIS_LayerVector layer I don't have any issues.

Is there something obvious I could be missing here?
